It's a pleasure to share the learning from my first Swimwear Photo-shoot. The client Anita wanted photos and videos which showed her products as both elegant and sexy. She had picked Nikki Beach Resort, Dubai as the location. Just three days before the shoot, I met Anita, discussed her requirements and visited the location for a mental picture of the photos and videos.
In any photographic situation, the most important thing to keep in mind is lighting. So I tried to stay out of direct overhead sunlight (but there is little you can do when the shoot happens at noon time) and planned to use a flash and picked out some of the locations with interesting lighting.
The Godex AD200 with Softbox helped with shadows. I used Nikon D750 with all Nikkor Lens, as I am a Nikonian.
Setting the equipment and lighting aside, the most important factor in a commercial product shoot (especially swimwear) are the models. Now the client Anita handled the selection of models, their makeup and of course the costume, which took off a major part of my concerns.
When I saw the models for the first time, the first thing that flashed in my mind was the old Baywatch TV series.
I was introduced to the beautiful models; I make it a point to talk to the models even for just few minutes before beginning the shoot, planning and laying out my ideas; you can be amazed by the feedback from experienced models.
The shoot was during February and the climate was cold, but the shivering models were very co-operative and creative.
Overall, I am happy with the videos and photographs of the day and so are the clients Anitas Exotic Swim Wear.
